Southern Winnipeg’s premier mens rugby club

what we do

  • We offer two rugby teams on a yearly basis, one in the Premier division, one in the 2nd division.

    Each team usually plays 9-10 games per season, and practices twice a week.

  • It’s a long winter, and we get together as a rugby club multiple times a year off the field.

    Yearly events include the Banquet, Christmas Beers, Team lifts, Registration, and indoor practice.

  • The Wombats are proud to be supported by a large and growing group of alumni.

The Manitoba Wombats are proud to recognize Larry Cherrett and congratulate him for his induction into the Manitoba Rugby Hall of Fame class of 2025 in the Builder category! Larry began playing rugby in Winnipeg in 1970, is a founding member and former President of the Wombats, and has served the club and broader rugby community over the years in many volunteer and leadership capacities. His contributions to Rugby in Manitoba are numerous, and he has had a significant impact on the growth of our club and the sport in general. Please join us in celebrating Larry by attending the Rugby Manitoba Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on October 18th at The Gates.
